Hunter Whitecotton!

What started as a simple passion project with Whitecotton Photography has grown into something much bigger. In the early days, I was focused on capturing the moments that mattered most—whether it was under the Friday night lights, on the court, or in the community. Over time, that vision expanded, and with it came the evolution into Southern Focus—a brand dedicated to not only telling stories through photos, but also highlighting the athletes, teams, and communities that make Southern Illinois so special.

Today, Southern Focus is proud to be more than just photography. I’m excited to share that I am now affiliated with River Radio Sports Central and The Southern Illinoisan, allowing me to expand coverage and bring even more exposure to the athletes and events that deserve the spotlight.

My mission remains the same: to provide high-quality, professional images while celebrating the people and places that define our region.

Whether you’re an athlete, parent, or fan, my goal is to make sure every moment gets the attention it deserves.

I am born and raised here in Southern Illinois and I am completely self taught. I've spent the last several years really practicing my craft and finding my own personal style.

Helping people has always been a top priority of mine and now that I can help capture memories that will last a lifetime, it brings me pure joy! I am very passionate about my work and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

When I'm not behind the lens you can find me enjoying one of my many hobbies! Anything from fishing, to golfing, or even just spending the day with my fiancé Maddie! Together we love attending sporting events like Cardinal Baseball, and Blues Hockey. You can also catch me at the fire department that I volunteer at, or rewatching my favorite TV series Suits!
